Today Benny swam the entire length of the pool without assistance while doing the backstroke. This is not new, he has completed that much swimming on his back before. But this time, GET THIS: HE WAS USING HIS ARMS TOO. Yes, he was doing the windmill stroke thing that you're supposed to do with the backstroke, rather than just waving his arms in the water next to his body. Ms. Deanah and I were very very pleased with this great progress. Benny's time off of swimming while Sadie was too tiny to go to the pool did NOT hurt him a bit -- he is in rare form. He is also thrilled because now instead of 8:45AM we are going to the pool at 3PM which means there are tons of other kids there for him to play with and I do mean TONS of other kids, it was a swirling vortex of children there today, and Benny was in the terrifying thick of it. He was playing "1-2-3-Jump!" off the side of the pool with 4 little girls... hilarious. He was shrieking with laughter. The child is such a social butterfly it is insanity. He was pretty good about getting out despite the fact that it was almost 6PM, he had been to preschool all morning... he was very tired. He did cry a little but mostly out of sorrow not naughtiness. So hey. It was a Taco Bell night at our house, since we didn't get home from the pool until dinner time. Now he is totally sacked out in bed -- I expect him to sleep through the night but then I expected that last night and he was up at 1:30. Expectations are meaningless. So is physical exercise. It's just the luck of the draw. But he has been keeping his Pull-Up dry all night. I'm just not even tempted to put him in underpants at night though. I mean, why suffer. I praise him for keeping his Pull-Up dry and he knows if he wakes up having to go that he has to go in the potty... so if he sleeps through an alarm and has an accident, this way no one gets hurt. He won't go to college in Pull-Ups, I imagine. So why. Enough rambling. :)
