A few more things:

1. Today I got extremely tired of listening to this Mendelssohn (or however you spell his miserable rat-infested name) violin concerto that Benny listens to ALL THE TIME when we are in the van. He *MUST* have it on, it must be played from the beginning, and it's GETTING OLD. It was used in the soundtrack of an old movie -- something that has "Russia is meteorologically bleak and politically complicated" as its theme, probably set in the 19th century and snow, and so this particular flea-bitten concerto makes me think of people humping around in mothy parkas having all kinds of oppressed emotions -- YUCK. Anyway, Benny loves it, so, there it is, it gets played in the van constantly. So today I was feeling like if I had to listen to it one more time I would burn my ears off with a hot poker, so I said, "Mommy's going to listen to a different sounds" and I just put a different disk in. He calls CDs "sounds" like it's a singular noun. ANYWAY. So he grumbled and complained through track 1 and I told him, look, we always listen to your sounds and now it's time for Mommy to have a turn, so be nice, and let Mommy have a turn. So we get to the end of track 1 and Benny says, "Now let's play my sounds!" and I said, "But Mommy's having just a tiny little turn" and he said, "No, you had a GREAT BIG LONG TURN and NOW IT'S OVER!" Hehehe. So I turned on the Mendelssohn.

2. Perhaps you are familiar with the story, "Best Nest" by P.D. Eastman. At one point in this narrative, Mr. and Mrs. Bird try to make a nest in a shoe, and finding that it's about to be used as footwear, they say, "Oh no! This house belongs to a foot!" Well Benny's always found that line very entertaining. So tonight as he's putting on his nightly pull-up he looks down fondly at it and says, "Oh no! This house belongs to a butt!" OH THAT HAD ME ROLLING IN THE AISLES!

3. Benny's going to space-themed music camp next week so I gave him this book on space that he's been reading enthusiastically at night. It's a big oversized book with lots of huge pictures. Tonight he propped it up on his sleeping sister in order to read it. It would have been the best snapshot ever, but if I'd run for the camera I'm sure she would have rolled over, or he would have moved, or something. I just had to savor the moment. :) He knows that Saturn's rings are made out of ice particles and that a comet is a rock that's "REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY ON FIRE!!!!!!!" Hehehe. Good luck, space camp teacher!

Couple things:

1. Benny's little friend Gabe said, when they parted on Tuesday after their playground playdate, "I love you, Benny. We're best friends." DID WE DIE? YES! WE DIED!

2. I was trying to convince Benny that he doesn't need to wear a pull-up at night and I said, "Gabe doesn't wear a pull-up at night." And Benny returns very joyfully and triumphantly with, "Right! Everybody can't wear pull-ups, just only I can wear pull-ups! And I have tentacles!"
