Benny's Progress

February 9, 2004

Silliness is progressing well.

Ability to eat frosting is above average.

I MEAN ABILITY TO FROST A CAKE.

Quite fixated on musical symbols still.
Learning the names of the notes in the lines and spaces.
There's also a little snail in there for some reason. Also a keyhole.
Today Benny learned to make sharps, so two or three of
those sharps in the middle are actually mine. The rest is his.

Working on learning silent E in spelling class.
Several interesting things about this picture:

1. The word TAK is actually a word, it's the name
of a character in one of his games. Always looking out
for words that turn into other words with a silent e.
2. It was his idea to write POP and turn it into POPE.
Not mine. Also his idea to spell "REMOTE" which he did.
3. The form of the "a" in the word "make" is new.
He hasn't written it like that before. I didn't question it.

And of course, we do spelling in our pajamas!

Number line and various problems in math class.
He gives himself the problems and the answers.
He's particularly interested in "rule" based problems...
like any number minus that number is zero.
Or two negatives make a positive. Any number
plus zero is the same number. Stuff like that.
