Name my New BLOG
I am going to be writing a homeschooling blog on the web site of the local paper. I need a name for this blog. To the person who gives me a good idea, or a brainstream that leads to a good idea, I will give a prize of vague and uncertain worth:

It is a copy of The Stepford Wives DVD. It is widescreen. It is accompanied by a matching issue of Home and Garden. The pair of them have been tied up with a fabric bow by my own dainty hand. I thought it was a crappy movie, but you might like it! Or your sister-in-law might! I will mail it to your house in a scented envelope if you help me name this blog. It's not a paid blog gig, but it might be kind of cool and it will give me a little cred in the local scene, at any rate. Maybe.
Here's what I want the name to say: We're not sitting around the kitchen table all day huddled around a pile of textbooks. We're not trying to create a shell for our kids to hide in. We're out and about. We're engaged. We're not homeschooling to protect our children from the world, we're homeschooling so that we can engage with the world more completely, and in a more real way. We don't send them to school because we think school is a waste of time. Learning is fun and active, play is essential and educational, and we want to fill our days with experiences -- at home and on the move.
So... in a word... that's.... ?
Can I, in fact, make a blog title out of a combination of two of these words?
headmaster, master, schoolmaster; headmistress, schoolmarm (or schoolma'am), schoolmistress; coach, guide, guru, trainer; mentor, tutor; drillmaster; dean, don, professor; pedant; governess, homeschooler; catechist, lecturer, moralizer, preacher, discharge, emancipate, enfranchise, liberate, loose, loosen, manumit, release, spring, unbind, uncage, unchain, unfetter, deliver, parole, ransom, redeem, rescue; disengage, disentangle, extricate, freeborn; delivered, emancipated, freed, liberated, manumitted, redeemed, released; unconquered, ungoverned, unruled, unsupervised; empowered, enfranchised; democratic, republican, collective, common, communal, shared; accessible, available, free; unregulated, elatedness, elation, exhilaration, exultation, intoxication; ecstasy, euphoria, heaven, rapture, rapturousness; delectation, delight, enjoyment, pleasure; cheer, cheerfulness, exuberance, gaiety (also gayety), gladsomeness, glee, gleefulness, jollity, joyfulness, joyousness, jubilation, lightheartedness; content, contentedness, gratification, satisfaction, blessedness, bliss, blissfulness, felicity, gladness, joy, apprehend, comprehend, grasp, know, understand; absorb, assimilate, digest, imbibe; ascertain, descry, detect, determine, dig up, discern, discover, examine, find out, hear, hit (on or upon), run down, scare up, search (for), see, track (down), tumble (to), unearth; major (in), study; memorize, coaching, conditioning, cultivation, preparation, readying; development, direction, guidance, nurturance, nurturing; edification, enlightenment, improvement, instruction, schooling, teaching, training, tutelage, tutoring, erudition, knowledge, learnedness, learning, scholarship, science

am i to guess that the stepford wives didn't sell well on ebay?
er, liberated jubilation? i kind of like that
lemme think some more...
and we're going to liberate 1500 ladybugs soon -- there will be all sorts of jubilation here -- most especially if they eat the 10 million aphids that are all over EVERY LIVING THING growing in our yard...front and back! bastardos.
Open Education
Real World Learning (3 words but nice)
Learing Outloud
Living Education
Teaching Thru Living (darn 3 word titles)
And just for laughs:
Our kids are smarter than yours because they aren't mindless drones of the public education system!
I wasn't taught at home. I was sent to the public schools. I believe home schooling and some of the private schools are much better methods.
Hi! Thanks for leaving a comment at Play Library.
Congratulations on the new blog gig! I'll take a stab at what might appeal to the general public (although I don't necessarily want the DVD :D )...
Home Sweet School
Domestic Learning
Freedom to Learn
RealLifeLearning?
PlayToLearn?
Thanks for twisting kristen's arm to start a blog! :-)
I liked Home Sweet School and Learning Out Loud.
Oh, Learnig Out Loud is good. What about Unbridled Education? Kinda like Unbridled Enthusiasm, and the horse thing that I have always associated you with, and the whole unschooling yet not yadda, yadda....
If I win I don't want anything except that loverly bow.
OK, I'm probably the last person who you'd think would even bother to contribute here, but how about...
Experiential Education
or
On Location Eduction
And if I win, I'll donate my prize to a vague and uncertain charity of some sort. That way, I can do good on two fronts.
