Benny

Hyperlexic children sometimes talk as if English is their second language. And... spoken English is kind of like a second language to them. Anyway, Benny's syntax is often confusing and obtuse but you do kind of get used to it. Sometimes you (if you're me) even can talk that same way back to him. Anyway... other people don't often understand what he's saying. So today at the library, he's talking to the mom one of the other kids who was playing with the toys with him:

Benny: I like your girl.
Her: Oh?
Benny: I like girls. I'm looking for a girlfriend just like her. (to the child) Just like YOU!
Her: Really.
Benny: Yes. What I like most about girls and woman are princess type.

*SNORT*
I was cracking up, one aisle over. Shortly after that they left, and Sadie was wandering around forever going, "Guys? Guys! Oh guys! Where are you!?" Two little nutnicrons.
