Master Cleanse Againse
My friend Veronica and I are doing the "Master Cleanse" starting today. The basic idea is threefold:
1. Wake up and drink a quart of hot salt water.
2. Throughout the day drink a mixture of lemon juice, molasses or maple syrup, and cayenne pepper in water.
3. Drink senna tea at night.
My goal is to do this for ten days. We're leaving for Disney World on the 15th, so, obviously, I don't want to be doing it at Disney World. In fact, if I actually do make it to 7 days, during the last 3 days I'll be phasing it out so I'm back to normal by the time we leave. Realistically, if I make it through four days I'll be happy. Or one day. Hehehe. We'll see.
I have three reasons for doing this:
1. Nanowrimo is coming up and I want to be mentally on.
2. Just started this new fitness regimen with Fitlinxx at the YMCA to strengthen my back muscles so I can return to martial arts next year (I hope).
3. Veronica told me to. *CACKLE*
Here we go!

5 Comments:
1. What is nanowrimo?
2. Do you eat during the cleanse?
3. If you can force down such large quatities of liquid of questionable flavors, you will have no trouble with your first colonoscopy after you turn 50 :-D
Sweet merciful Zeus.
I can't make it past reading about the quart of hot salt water without gagging, but if you can do it, more power to you. I bet it's prolly good for you. GO Lydia!
oh my dear dear insane friend. i am wondering if there will be pictures.
much luck on this adventure.
and i was also wondering about nanowrimo. i will cheer you on but you also must must must HAVE TO finish the wonderful story from last year. because it is good. and i mean GOOD good. it is a story that MUST be finished and published.
Day one so far so good!!
Are you having any better luck with the molasses??
Enjoying the lemonade at all??
I understand what you're going through, and the original Master Cleanse book by Stanley Burroughs doesn't tell you how to get past these roadblocks preventing you from finishing the Master Cleanse. My early attempts at the Master Cleanse were pure misery. I couldn't escape the hunger, headaches, and the overwhelming desire to quit.
