Game boards and quilt
blocks stack up in the focus fabric for this eye-catching set. A chess
board, backgammon board, and Chinese checkers set mingle with rows
of red game pieces and miniature quilts to decorate two panels of the
dress, the band of the hat, and the purse straps and applique.
The striped panel and the checked lining of the hat are very soft vintage shirting, and the crown of the hat and the purse are ivory chenille. The final panel of the dress is a vintage repro floral print, and the dress is embellished on the front and back with yo-yos, buttons, and a cotton doily. The hat can be worn with the brim rolled up as shown here, or left down to create a shade with the muslin and lace brim. |
Hat and dress are trimmed with tatted lace over a muslin ruffle, and the dress is lined with 'tea-stained' muslin. |
![]() It's geometrics vs. florals in this multi-textured ensemble, with geometrics ahead by a Chinese checker. Go florals! |
Never leave home without your matching bag. This bag works on the shoulder or dangling from the elbow as shown here. |

The striped panel is embellished with a cotton lace doily, a fabric yo-yo, and a button. The floral panel is embellished with three yo-yos stacked with contrasting buttons. |
The shirting, like any vintage fabric, has a few irregularities and thin spots. This does not detract from the outfit, in fact it adds character. Since the dress is lined, this has no structural effect. |
