Anybody up for a game of
checkers? Gear up for the game in this knock-your-eye-out tournament set,
and intimidate the competition! Three pieces -- hat, swing jacket, and
jeans with matching cuffs -- all show off a focus fabric in which a chess
board, backgammon board, and Chinese checkers set mingle with rows
of red game pieces and miniature quilts.
The brim and crown of the hat are made from vintage shirting, and these two fabrics are pieced in quilt blocks for the front and back of the jacket, in a block called "Broken Dishes." The pants started life as size 3T carpenter jeans from The Children's Place. The cuffs have been added to match the jacket fabric. |
Wear a white t-shirt with the jeans and hat; add the jacket for cool mornings or evenings. Add a turtleneck and the outfit lasts through the fall. |
 The jacket and hat are fully lined with premium ivory muslin which is printed with a white vine pattern that looks like vintage wallpaper. All seams are enclosed and finished. |
The shirting, like any vintage fabric, has a few irregularities and thin spots. This does not detract from the outfit, in fact it adds character. |
