How to Get Around
There are two
continents in the world of Elacia. One is Middle Earth, and is laid out
mostly like the maps in Tolkien's books, with Tolkien-themed areas in
the appropriate places. The other continent is Thera, where you'll find
New Thalos, Mahn Tor, and many other non-Tolkien areas. You can travel
between the two continents on a boat. You'll find the dock by going out
the west gate of Bree and then all west until you hit the water. Your
recall spot will initially be set to Bree, but you can change it later
if you'd prefer someplace else when you're done with the MUD School.
There is a shockwave map of the realm here
-- right click to zoom! And you can view a list of areas at this
address.
| Bree |
In some ways, the most important area in the MUD. Take some
time to study the map at recall, and walk around the town to
find the shops, the guilds, the gates. To get to Bree, type
recall. For accelerated regeneration rates, go east, then north,
and sleep near Strider, who is also a healer if you get poison
or disease. |
| Emond's
Field |
Two important things in this area. First is the "Two
Rivers Tabac" that many of the male mobs carry. This is a pill
for the 'haste' spell and very useful. Second is the equipment,
which can be sold at the armoury in town for 400 gold per piece.
This is good money when you're level 3!
Be careful in areas that link to this one. If you wander too far
over the bridge, you could get bit by a trolloc, and nobody
wants to see that. Also, Wheel of Time's tribal lands are
connected to this Robert Jordan themed area. |
| New
Thalos and Fourth Tower |
Fourth tower is
a great leveling area for players up to level 25. Most of the
mobs in the area are good, with the exception of the merchants
and nobles, so prepare to be evil if you like to fight here.
Beware fighting in New Thalos, as the guards will assist the
mobs you attack. |
| Smurf
Village |
On this MUD smurf village is a little more sinister than you
may be expecting. Be careful of Papa Smurf, who teleports.
And be warned that if you go downstairs at Smurfette's you'll
find yourself in a maze. |
| Gnome
Village |
Everyone loves to kill gnome children as their parents look on
in horror, right? Beware -- the dungeon is a very difficult maze. |
| The
Shire |
West of Bree, right where it should be! |
| Dwarven
Daycare |
Kill the nanny for her linen robe and the old doll for her
pink ice ring, but beware
aggressive toy soldiers and ugly bears! |
| Barrow
Downs |
Great place for good aligned players to level. Look in the
southwest corner of Bree for a south exit from 'Along the
Hedge.' Barrow downs is sort of a maze but not a hard one. There
is an outpost of the Tower tribe's keep here where you can buy
food and be healed. |
