Thursday, September 18, 2003 ( 2:48 PM ) Lostcheerio Almost half the people in the area are without power and they're telling us on the news that we can expect to be without power for a week. A WEEK!?!?! The snarky news lady was saying a big fat WE TOLD YOU SO to everyone, saying, "You were warned that you could lose power for a week and if you haven't evacuated at this point you CAN'T because all the bridges and tunnels are closed so I guess next time you will heed our alarmist sensationalist reporting and BUY BATTERIES A MONTH IN ADVANCE." Or whatever. I don't remember being warned that power would go out for a week. A big piece of tree fell onto a wire right by our house and Dan went out and climbed on the truck and got it off the wire and dragged it into the front yard. We DO NOT want to lose power! OR CABLE OR DSL!!!! :) What would we do without the weather channel and all the satellite images on the web being updated moment by moment? Outside it looks like it's raining leaves and twigs. Cars are plastered with leaves, everything plastered, and the winds are still very strong. They keep telling us on the news that "we haven't seen the worst of this yet!" and the news people are getting VERY SNARKY with thrill seekers who are for example SWIMMING IN THE SURF in and also riding bikes on the beach... driving around town with their windows down screaming and hooting. All the news people feel compelled to 'reiterate that this is a very serious situation' -- how serious can it be when people are swimming in it? AHHH. # |
