      ( 11:13 AM ) Lostcheerio
WHOO! DSL went out for a while. There are some big branches down in our backyard and the winds are CRAZY!!! I keep looking at the phone/electrical lines and thinking... there's no way these are going to stay up. Some people in Norfolk have lost power. There is talk among the population that some of us brave souls might hole up in the church, which has rooms with no windows, basement, etc. but I think Dan is stapled to the floor here in some sort of male go-down-with-the-ship mentality, and I have to say the prospect of lugging water jugs, stuff for Benny, bedding, food, etc. etc. over to church and possibly being there all night isn't PARTICULARLY savory, much as I would enjoy seeing Bonnie's new baby. Plus driving over there would scare the pants off me at this point... Dan said he would drive us but I don't want to be separated from him, just in case he ends up in Oz and I'm stuck here in Kansas. So, Benny and I have chairs pulled up to the windows in the front room and we're watching the neighbors' shingles lifting up and down, and watching the trees bend. I'm crocheting and Benny is sticking his hook in and out of the skein meditatively and eating a pear.

Contrary to my earlier report, Dan's Wall Street Journal actually stayed dry inside its little bag. SO hey. But no mail. About an hour to go before it's supposed to get really bad -- we'll see! WHEE!!! :)
