Here's a picture of me pregnant in New Orleans:

I just got back from visiting my friend Susannah in New Orleans. New Orleans was SO AWESOME AND COOL! It was so perfectly representative of the cliche images you see, and the French Quarter and Maurigny are so BIG that you can just wander around forever on these little old streets, with little neat restaurants and art galleries and there are horse (or mule) drawn carriages pulling people around, and these three story HUGE brick buildings with 15 foot ceilings and two tiers of wrought iron balconies all hung with boulder-size ferns and other tropical foliage which drips throughout the day so it's constantly kind of moist below... very very scenic. We kept exclaiming about the good cheer of the mules that were pulling the people around -- they were VERY brisk and had their ears perked up and were just hoofing around all happy and fat. The horses were more crabby but almost every single mule must have been just relentlessly hopped up on Prozac. There's a touristy area where the French Quarter kind of intersects with the downtown, but then the farther you get away from downtown the more it really seems like separate from the rest of the world, and just very picturesque and interesting. So that was a good little pre-baby escape for me before I settle in for the last two months of this pregnancy.
