Sadie's doing much better. She's been upright now for about 47 hours. Heh heh... silly doctor! You don't tell two overachievers like Dan and me to keep the baby upright! She'll never lie down again! MWAHAHAHAHA! But seriously though, she has simultaneously decreased her mucous production and learned to deal better with the mucous that still exists so while she's still not sleeping comfortably in a horizontal position, she is a much happier baby. We've logged 23 smiles already today, so there's your indicator. OVERACHIEVERS. YAH. DEAL.

Welp, back from the doctor. Or, actually, back from the hospital. The pediatrician was very alarmed by her coughing and said she didn't "look right" so sent us over to the ER for more tests. Four hours later, we find she has RSV which basically means she has a bad cold. It's a relief because the fear was that she had whooping cough, which has another name I can't remember, and in infants it doesn't make them whoop. I'm sure there is much more information that I should impart, but the sleeplessness, the long day, etc. have stolen it from my brain pan. The short story is that she needs to be kept upright as much as possible so she's sleeping right now on my chest. The doctor said it might get worse before it gets better. Hooray for THAT. We just have to make sure she doesn't have a fever.

Taking Sadie to the doctor this AM at 10:30. She is drowning in mucous, sometimes she literally seems like she can't breathe. And I do mean *literally* thank you. Dan and I are both sick like dogs, Benny is getting better but still sick-ish and hacking and coughing, and now Sadie is making these absolutely HEARTBREAKING gurgling coughs... all night and then when she DOES sleep you worry if she's going to stop breathing. SOOOO to the doctor we go.

We're having a communication breakdown in our marriage. We both have clogged ears and sore throats. So, we can barely hear each other, and we can't talk any louder. At least slapping still works.
