Yesterday Sadie drank a little filtered water out of a pink sippy cup. She really enjoyed gnawing on the spout and then when she'd latch on and get a little water she'd pull off and act sort of surprised and pleased. It was more entertainment than nourishment but it was fun -- she liked it. She has rejected eating though, so for now we're back to just strictly nursing. She doesn't like bananas, or peas, or rice cereal -- these are the things we've been trying. She just doesn't like to eat from a spoon and have to swallow and everything, she just wants to nurse so FINE! I'm fine with that.

There are many wonderful things about Sadie that have been going on gradually and quietly and so I am blogging them now.

1. She likes to say, "Gola gola golagoluckalucka lucka lucka!" She usually says this around the binky and in such a hushed sort of reverent, excited way it is very dear. Fans of Benjamin will recognize the "lucka" as in "ducka" -- we'll see what this develops into. It's very very sweet when she says it, and she LOVES to have it said back to her. Very charming. Very sweet.

2. Today while we were waiting for Dan to clean out the boat's engine we put Sadie in the carseat just without the straps. The angle of it enabled her to sit up straight without help so SIT SHE DID. She was looking around in this extremely pleased and satisfied manner, looking at me and at Benny and all tickled that she could sit up like this and then she noticed that without the straps on, not only could she sit up straight but that she could EAT HER FEET. Which she promptly did, at length, and with great contentment. Then I gave her a toy and she played with it until Dad got back. This is a toy that was originally Benny's. It was given to him by Joshilyn and it is a very charming mouse with long stripey legs and the body crackles and -- well it's a lovely toy but Benny took one feel of it and didn't care. He didn't care for it any more than he cared for MOST toys when he was Sadie's age. Sadie, on the other hand, finds this mouse to be endlessly interesting -- the crackling of it, the long dangly legs, the way you can cram it into your mouth and look like you're considering the flavor. She is the most INTENSELY tactile child -- it is REALLY bizarre how different it is from Benny who only wanted to GO GO GO. This baby wants to sit and scritch everything and feel it all over and investigate. She does not care about crawling. At all.

3. She is ticklish. Has been for weeks. She's particularly ticklish in the neck department. But the funniest thing, is still being pretend-eaten. Nothing gets her laughing her diaper off than pretending to eat any body part but especially the delicious tummy. That just kills her. Pretending to gorge yourself on big bites of baby tummy is the funniest thing ever. HEY!? We're all mammals at heart.

4. She loves the remote control. It is flat and colorless and just looks like a flat thing and then when you move it it lights up with buttons. WOW she loves that remote. She also loves to shove her hands into anything on a plate that looks like it would be hot enough to burn her. She is URGENT about feeling things. URGENT. She likes to also put cold water bottles in her mouth, she slurps on the bottoms of my Dasani bottles. She likes to lick ice cubes.

SHE IS THE DEAREST SWEETEST LITTLE MUFFIN-CAKE. I just die all over the place when I see her -- she's the dearest angel. I just love her little girly pearly self. :) :) :)
