What the heck happened that I quit updating this blog?

If you haven't figured it out yet, I'll give you the answer: crawling.

Sadie started crawling in her ninth month and now on the day after she turned eleven months I am finally getting my head above water.

She's crawling. She's pulling up to a standing position. She's adorable. But she's in that stage where she requires pretty constant attention to stop her from hurling herself down stairs, smashing her skull open on the hearth, and electrocuting herself with a lamp. So. Her nap times have become violin practice times and school times and in general Benny times, since the rest of the day is so consumed with monitoring Sadie's health and well being. If the naps were any reasonable length, or if the children could manage to fall asleep before 9:00pm, I might still be a functional human being, but she's also constantly teething and wretched, so she doesn't sleep well during the day and seems to do even worse at night! WHEE!

I am now starting to get things under control or at least get accustomed to the new level of insanity, and we have a new web site for both kids together:

Keep Your Eye On The Kids

I'm cross-posting this to Benny's blog. :)

I dressed them up in Halloween clothes and took them to the doctor, the car dealership, and the craft store. And took pictures. Here is a page of pictures of the day. :)

Sadie Grace had her nine month appointment. She is perfect in every way. 25th percentile for weight. 50th percentile for height. 75th percentile for head size. Ahem.

Ahno's dear friend Mrs. Dubay sent this outfit! Here's a page of pictures of Sadie wearing her outfit, unpacking her toybox, and sitting on Ahno's lap. I am very grateful to Mrs. Berger and Mrs. Dubay and Mrs. Ulrich who have never seen Sadie in person but have sent her and also Benny lovely presents because they are friends of Ahno. :) We really appreciate your thoughtfulness! And thank you for letting Ahno retire so she can be on hand for all the baby action! :)

Boating is fun for babies in that they get to play with toys in the cabin or they get to be stuffed into a giant terrible sausage casing in order to come out on deck in safety. Here is a page of pictures of Sadie in the cabin in June!

Here is a page of pictures of Sadie wearing a green dress that came from Grammy! Note the bib of drool -- this was during a rather intense teething day. She does have bibs of things made of other things besides drool but then you wouldn't be able to see the DRESS. Right? :)

Sadie has a new dress. Here is a page of pictures of her in it!

Here is a page of pictures of Sadie in a pink dress in the cabin on the boat in August.

Our dear little sweet angel baby has two whole teeth. And what's more, she can wave. And what's more, she can point. And what's even double super more, she can POINT AND WAVE and when she does these two things in concert she is really looking like Disapproving Aunt Blankethead for sure. She points to communicate! And she waves! She waves with one hand or both hands.

She's almost 9 months old and still not crawling -- unbelievable. She does like pizza though. And salad, like her brother. She's the nicest, sweetest, most angelic little cute tiny pocket of humanity, it is INSANE. She loves to unpack her toy bins. She tries to keep her legs crossed all the time. From a sitting position, she'll rock forward until she's on her hands and knees, then she scootches backwards uncontrollably, which makes her extremely mad! She likes to be held, likes to ride on my hip, and likes Ritz crackers. She is a DOLL. So beautiful, so charming, so perfect.

Little tiny Sadie has a tooth. It's a razor sharp little tooth and it's right in the front on the bottom. No one has actually SEEN it. She won't let us. I think I'm the only one who's felt it. She's rather protective of it and screams her head off when I try to get a good feel -- I'm mostly trying to feel in the space right next to it to see if the other front bottom one is coming. I can't tell. Precious little girl defying orders and doing things like growing teeth.

Crawling is lamentably not far away. She's rocking now, on her hands and knees. Today she took a face plant in the karate mat, which made her extremely mad. It also makes her mad when you take away the remote control. Very mad! HER VERY MAD LITTLE TINY GIRL OF RED FACE! Hehehe.

She has eaten cheerios, Ritz crackers, and even tuna casserole. Table food is where it's at.

WOW. She ate something!!! Today she ate five or six cheerios, enough little pieces of Ritz cracker to probably make one whole cracker, and enough little bits of tuna casserole to probably make one curly noodle. AMAZING! She was actually opening her mouth and trying to eat it!?!?!? I'm floored. She won't eat baby food though -- apparently she's just been holding out for the actual human food. Fine with me! We seem to have passed through that horrible non-sleeping and constant-nursing phase. She must have boosted my supply up to where she needed it -- it's much better now.

Another! Thing! She is sleeping in her.... CRIB! We finally got her a crib -- it's a lovely white one that will turn into a double bed frame when she's ready. It's very beautiful and matches the woodwork around our windows. We dug out, washed, and installed Benny's old John Lennon bedding and it looks quite nice. :) Even the mobile! Benny was standing up and grabbing it before he had a chance to even enjoy it -- so it had to be taken out. This baby is taking things at a more leisurely pace! Although, she is so close to crawling sometimes it's appalling. Dan says, "Get out the duct tape!" We're so pleased with her being so huggy and cuddly and holdy and NON-mobile -- it will be a shock and an adjustment when she actually starts moving around. Today in the middle of all her toys on the floor she *was* scootching a little bit, but just a little. :)

Anyway. Food, a crib, next it'll be the college applications. Very dear sweet little baby girl is being VERY naughty and growing up. Did I mention she's eight months old? Shhhh, don't tell Dad.

Sadie has started sharing her little favorite things with us. The other day she offered her binky to Dan with this expression of "Hey, Dad! You gotta try this it's really great!" Hehehe. Last night she offered me her favorite little bath toy to chew, and then later the bottle of baby oil. So sweet! Especially the binky -- that's her most important possession, it's very dear to see her want to share it. SWEET BABY! I'll remember this when she's two, I promise.
